What Do You Wish For? Use This Art Project to Envision Your Hopes.

Whenever wishing comes to mind, most think about birthday cakes or shooting stars. Do you have a list of wishes you would like to come true? Art them up!

Wishes are a fun way to bring you back to your childhood, back when the feeling that they really would come true was the strongest. Everyone has wishes, both old and young. Why not create some art based on wishes? That is the focus of this art journal prompt.

For this mixed media art journal prompt, you will need the following:

Follow these steps to complete this mixed media art journal prompt:

  1. Open your art journal to the first page spread. Using a light blue color wash, paint over both sides of the page spread. (You may wish to add waxed paper to the back of each page to protect what is behind them.) Allow the pages to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
  2. Using the glitter gel pens, write out all of your wishes randomly across the page spread. Try to give each wish a different color. If this is not possible, do not let it stop you. Write them all out!
  3. Take out the pictures, rubber stamps, and stickers to embellish the page spread. Layer over each other and use as much of the page space up as possible.
  4. With the watercolor pencils, create doodles around the areas of the pages that have not been filled with embellishments yet. Smudge these areas with a fine-tipped paintbrush. Do not be afraid to make a lot of swirling strokes the give the pages movement and interest.

Repeat this mixed media art journal prompt as much as needed so that all of your dreams are conveyed. Be sure not to censor yourself during this process and be as honest with yourself as possible. You never know which dreams will come true and which ones will not, so get them all out.

If you would rather sketch out images, rather than using pictures, rubber stamps, and stickers, that would give the pages a great look. Consider using the watercolor pencils to create these sketches if desired. Remember, there are no rules to creating these art journal prompts. They are merely presented as a springboard to get your creative juices flowing.
